Song: I know I'm a wolf- Young heretics.
(Warning: "extreme"? Violence & gore, I suggest leaving if you don't like that sort of thing.)
Enjoy...? (<- insensitive ( in a way), but what else am I supposed to say? XD)

_________________________________________

Dear rabbit,

my legs are getting weak chasing you.
The snow fields wouldn't seem so big, if you knew...
That this blood on my teeth, it is far beyond dry.
And I've captured you once, but I wasn't quite right.

So I'm telling you, that you'll be safe with me.

I watched, completely horrified as my parents were torn apart and eaten right in front of me. The large wolf responsible hadn't seemed to notice me yet, and my parents had told me to stay inside the burrow they had made. My (f/c) fur was standing up on all ends as I watched the scene play out in front of me. I wanted to run, how badly I wanted to run away... but my legs were frozen to the cold ground beneath me, and my heart felt as if it were going to explode any second. I stood there for a long time, completely mortified, watching as the wolf ate away at the corpses of my parents.

When the legs of the large grey wolf walked past, I instinctively peeked my head out to see if it was safe to come out. Sure enough, there was no wolf in sight. I hopped out slowly, the crimson blood of my parents soaked the snow in front of our home. I whimpered, slowly walking towards the corpse of my mother. Her whole body was laying limp, covered in large gashes, where her insides came outside. My nose twitched at the smell that invaded the, what was once fresh, atmosphere.

I let out a small whine, nudging her crumbled corpse with my head. There was no response, of course, she was dead. But a small part of me wished that she would get up, and tell me that everything was alright. I hopped over to my Father's mangled corpse next, he looked worse off than my Mother. What was left of his face was a agonized expression, his bright yellow brown eyes wide open. His broken bottom jaw hung open, almost as if he were still screaming, even in death.

My parents had warned me about things like this, they said if anything happened to them that I should run as far away as I could, and try to start a new life of my own as something completely different. There were legends of wolves turning into humans, but the same could also be said of some of other animals. It just depended on how strong of a will a person, or animal, carried. I wasn't sure how I was supposed to change, I haven't seen my parents, or have never heard of myself doing so before. But occasionally, my parents would speak to each other in a language that the humans used. But even so, I preferred my life here, in the woods, it was the one place I belonged.

My ears twitched as the sound of crunching snow echoed from somewhere close by. I looked around with wide eyes, was the wolf still here? I shrank back at the thought of the murderer hanging around. My heart began beating rapidly, and my two back legs nervously thumped the snow underneath me, almost as if they were preparing to run. At that moment, a large grey wolf jumped out from behind a large boulder, his two eyes were a color I had ever seen before, they were a beautiful golden brown looking color. As I was distracted, the wolf tackled me, keeping me pinned beneath him with a snarl. My (e/c) eyes widened as my back was pressed against the snow. Was I really going to die here?

The wolf stared down at me, mixed emotions filling his eyes. He looked as if he didn't want to kill me, but surely that was his intention. He just ate my parents, after all, their blood still soaked his large muzzle. Taking in a deep breath, I quickly scrambled up and ran as fast as I could. As I ran, I could hear the wolf's paws thudding not too far behind me. Snow was extremely hard to run in, I was still just a small rabbit and not fit for so much running, I had yet to grow into my feet. But I could just surrender myself, I had to live. I have to escape.

"W-wait...!" I heard a child's voice call, I blinked, turning my back as my legs continued to hop forward. The wolf was panting, trying his hardest to catch up to me, but his attempts were futile, I had no intention of letting him catch me a second time. I sped up, running as fast as my legs would carry me.

As time passed, I began to slow down. My paws were so thickly coated in snow that it was beginning to burn, causing each step to become extremely painful. The wolf was far behind me, but I could still make out the color of his eyes even though he was so far behind me. I slowed down to a stop, hiding in a near by bush, hoping to catch at least a minutes worth of breath. Just enough time to clean these paws, and I should be alright to run.

But the one questioned that still echoed through my mind was: why is he still chasing me? Naturally, any predator would have given up after just a half an hour of chasing, but this guy... He's persistent, that's for sure. I quickly groomed the bottoms of my large feet, brushing as much snow as possible out from underneath them. When I was about finished, the wolf had finally managed to catch up to me. His four large paws were visible through the cloud of snow that covered the bush, it was what kept you from being found out straight away.

The wolf laid down, panting loudly, but the thing that happened next I hadn't expected. His form shifted front that of a wolf to a human child. My two (e/c) eyes widened in wonder. He was just a child, his hair was shaggy and dark and his eyes seemed a lot lighter than what they were when he was in his wolf form. Curiously, I peeked my head out just a bit, so i could watch him. He didn't have his fur, or clothes on for the matter, but that didn't make me shy away from staring. I had rarely seen humans this high in the mountain, so to be this close to one... It was almost like a dream.

"She... She's fast... I can't believe I lost sight of her." He huffed, leaning against a tree, trying to catch his breath.

"..." My mouth opened as I tried to mimic the movements of his mouth. How do humans talk this way? It's so strange...

"I wish I would have known that she was there before... I wouldn't have..." He ceased speaking, looking towards the bush I had hidden myself in. I jumped back, my body trembling, had he seen me? Perhaps he had caught a whiff of my scent? I should have bee more careful, I'll surely pay for this mistake with my own life. As the boy drew closer to the bush, my heart pumped faster and faster, soon his two large hands were digging into the snow, revealing my (f/c) fur.

I closed my eyes, bracing myself for whatever pain would come next.

Rabbit,

my claws are dull now, so don't be afraid.
I could keep you warm, as long as you can just try to be brave.
Yes, I know I'm a wolf, and I've been known to bite.
But the rest of my pack, I have left them behind.
And my teeth may be sharp, and I've been raised to kill,
But the thought of fresh meat, it is making me ill.

So I'm telling you, that you'll be safe with... me.

He grabbed me, but it wasn't in a harsh manner at all, he had grabbed me in a very gentle manner. You hadn't expected that of a wolf, but he wasn't really a wolf right now, was he? My body shook uncontrollably as he held me close to his chest. I stared up at him, my long ears pressed close to my head. Something about the look in his face told me that he didn't want to hurt me, but how could I trust him after what he had done..?

"You're freezing..." He said with a frown, I flinched as one of his hands raised above me. He looked down at me sadly, dropping his hand back down. "I'm sorry... If I had known you were there, I would have left your family alone... There's no amount of apologies that could make up for it, but... I'll warm you up the best I can. Your such a small thing, and with all this snow you're bound to end up freezing to death." He put me down, the once human boy, turned into the large grey beast that had killed my parents. I scrambled back into the bush, my paws thumping against the snow. The wolf-boy frowned and let out a small whimper.

"You're safe with me.... I won't hurt you, I promise..." He pleaded, I took a small hop forward, staring at him.

"....promise...?" I said, the voice that escaped my throat was strange, it was a lot like his voice but pitched a bit higher. The wolfs eyes widened, and he took a step towards me in shock.

    "You're..."

"Me?" I questioned,"I..." I wasn't sure what to say, I barely knew the human language, so I could only mimic the words I had heard him say.

"You're like me..." He said quietly,"...can you... Turn into a human, too..?"

I stared at him, one large ear twitched, I shook my head, my ears flopping around with the sudden action. "I... do not know how..." The wolf sat down, staring down at me with interest.

"I see... I really do promise not to hurt you... I feel so horrible about what I did, so to make it up, how about you come warm up next to me? I'm a furnace thanks to all that running." He let out a small bark of laughter, I took a few hops forward, resting at his feet. His tail soon wrapped around me, almost like a blanket. He laid down, resting beside me, one of his strangely colored eyes completely fixed on me. It was strange being this close to a wolf, especially being so close to a wolf that had just killed my family. But for some reason, I wasn't afraid of him anymore. All of my fear seemed to have just melted away within an instant.

"Do you have a name?" He questioned me in a gentle voice.

"Name..?" I countered, my parents hadn't given me any sort of real name, they called me a lot of different things, but whenever they talked about me in their human language they used (Name). I opened my mouth unsure of how to begin pronouncing it. I sounded it out, my cheeks puffed in frustration when the word I had said made no sense.

"I think you're trying to say (name)." He chuckled, hearing him say it made my ears shoot straight up and my heart pound. I nodded, looking away shyly.

"My name is Ame." Ame? I thought, that name, it suited him. After hearing his name, we said nothing to each other, we only laid there enjoying each other's company. As time passed in complete silence, snow slowly began falling from the sky. I wasn't cold, I was so warm that I was beginning to drift off to sleep. My heart wasn't pounding as fast as a rabbit, it was slow, matching up to Ame's. My eyes closed slowly, but as soon as they did, something changed. It felt like something was tugging on your body, stretching it out,

I opened my eyes slowly, and to my surprise, I was no longer a small fragile rabbit, but a human girl. I jumped up, causing Ame to jump in surprise. When his eyes landed in mine, he almost seemed star struck. I rose up a pale (s/c) hand, staring at it in wonder, my hand drifted to my shoulder where long pieces of (h/c) hair laid against my body.

    "Ame..." I said quietly,"I...?"

"You're human." He replied, his form shifted quickly, as he practically tackled me to the ground, his warm body pressed against mine. It was a strange feeling, considering the fact that it was our skin that made contact and that there was no fur on either of us. The snow that covered the ground below had zero effect on either of us as we laid there staring each other in the eyes.
I slowly wrapped my arms around Ame, pulling him close to me, closing my eyes. I could feel Ame's heart race.

"You're so warm..." I said quietly, a small yawn escaping my lips.

"So are you..." He replied, wrapping his wolfish arms around me, putting his forehead gently against my own.

Just like that, we both fell asleep, holding each other close. I wasn't sure when, but at some point we had both reverted back into our animal forms. When I woke up, I was tucked underneath Ame's large tail, I adjusted myself to a comfortable position, facing away from him. Ame gently turned me around, not wanting me to face away from him. I stared at him, and he looked straight back at me. I crawled close, snuggling up into his neck, before falling asleep, I could make out the from of Ame's tail slowly drifting down, curling around my body.

So rabbit,

please, stop looking the other way.
It's cold out there, so why not stay here
Under my tail.
